LG has announced an update to its “Ultra” monitor series for 2020. The new screens are set to be unveiled at CES 2020.

In a press release, LG announced an update to its "Ultra" monitor series. According to the company, the presentation of the new devices will take place at the upcoming CES 2020 (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. A total of five new models will be presented, including a 38-inch UltraWide display with a Thunderbolt 3 port.

2020 LG UltraFine Ergo Display

The Ergo model is a 31.5-inch, 4K UHD display. The LG UltraFine Ergo Display updates at 60Hz with a response time of 5 ms and has a USB-C port and 2 HDMI slots. It is also equipped with AMD FreeSync technology. The USB-C port enables 4K playback, fast data transfer and notebook charging. Due to the built-in ports, the LG UltraFine Ergo Display is a solid solution for both Mac and Windows users.

2020 LG UltraGear Gaming Monitors

As the name suggests, the gamers among us have also been taken into account. The new UltraGear models promise gamers rapid speed and excellent image quality. There is a choice of 27-inch, 34-inch and a whopping 38-inch. The press release states:

The 27-inch UltraGear 4K UHD monitor features a 1ms Nano IPS display with a 144Hz refresh rate, overclockable to 160Hz. The device also offers hardware calibration to maximize the capability of LG IPS technology and realize precise color reproduction. A single DisplayPort cable supports VESA Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology for virtually lossless performance when processing 4K UHD images. In addition to rich, vivid images and remarkable speed, VESA DSC is HDR compatible and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible, offering variable refresh rate and adaptive sync technology.

2020 LG UltraWide Monitor

The third new addition to the new model range is the LG UltraWide monitor - a 38-inch curved screen with a resolution of 3,840 x 1,600 (almost 4K). The UltraWide has the same 1ms Nano IPS display/144Hz refresh rate as the 27-inch Ultra Gear. It is NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible and comes with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. The announcement states:

With Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, this monitor is a great addition to any workspace. LG's latest UltraWide has a screen size three times larger than a 16:9 Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) monitor, providing ample space for writing code, editing, and reviewing all content simultaneously. Additionally, the monitor's Nano IPS display covers 98 percent of the DCI P3 color space, providing incredibly natural and realistic images. Certified VESA DisplayHDR 600, this monitor offers a truly dynamic HDR experience on its massive 38-inch display.

As mentioned above, the devices will be presented at the upcoming CES 2020. The final release date and prices were not mentioned in today's press release. (Photo by boggy / Bigstockphoto)
