We have already documented several times that Apple has been taking much tougher action against leakers for some time. The company has also made some internal changes to reduce the number of leaks. But in vain, the wave of leaks continues. Now an internal memo has been revealed.

Like The Verge reported, Tim Cook addressed employees internally and explained that employees who share internal information are not part of the company. The Verge writes:

Tim Cook wrote an email to Apple employees on Tuesday night recounting an all-hands meeting revealed to The Verge last week. He said the company is doing "everything we can to identify the people who leak internal information" and pointed out that "people who leak confidential information are not Apple."

Tim Cook: "Incredibly frustrated"

The news follows an internal meeting at Apple that took place on September 17th, where the company discussed testing for unvaccinated employees, Apple vs. Epic, equal pay for employees, data privacy, and more. The content of the meeting is known because it was also leaked to the press. Cook's most recent email states:

I'm writing to you today because I've heard from many of you that you were incredibly frustrated when the meeting content was leaked to reporters - and this after a product launch where most of the details of our announcements were also leaked to the press.

Cook expressed his disappointment not only about the internal meeting but also about the leaks surrounding the iPhone 13 event. Apple unveiled its new smartphone last week along with a new Apple Watch Series 7, an iPad mini 6 and an iPad. But most of the details were already revealed in advance. The email continues:

Against Leaks: “These people do not belong to Apple”

I want you to know that I share your frustration. These opportunities to connect as a team are really important, but they only work if we can trust that the content stays within Apple. I want to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to identify those who share internal information. As you know, we do not tolerate the sharing of confidential information, whether it is intellectual property or the details of a confidential meeting. We know that the leakers are a small number of people. We also know that people who leak confidential information are not part of us.

Finally, Cook thanked the employees for their hard work in developing the products and said:

We will continue to measure our contribution by the lives we change, the connections we foster and the work we do to make the world a better place.
