iPhone Xs: This is why the reception is better than the iPhone Xr

The new iPhone line-up has a lot in common. The biggest differences are the displays and the camera.

The iPhone Xs series is known to have an OLED display in two different sizes. The camera is also better than the iPhone Xr. Otherwise, all three iPhone models have the same processor, the TrueDepth camera and even the same modem from Intel. Nevertheless, the iPhone Xs series is said to offer better signal strength than the iPhone Xr. This is what recent test results have shown.

According to a report by the website PC Mag, the iPhone Xr is said to have almost the same download speeds as the iPhone X. However, the iPhone Xs can be twice as fast in certain cases, despite having the same modem.

The antennas and signal strength make the difference

After further investigation, the testers came to the conclusion that the difference in speed was due to the antennas installed. The iPhone Xs has antennas with 4×4 MIMO support, whereas the iPhone Xr only has 2×2 MIMO support. In general, both iPhone models achieve the same speed, although the iPhone Xs can maintain it for longer. This is because the iPhone Xr is less able to cope well in areas with poorer reception.

The iPhone Xr can be purchased from just 849 euros. The starting price for an iPhone Xs model is 1,149 euros and the iPhone Xs Plus costs at least 1,249 euros.
