At the beginning of the year, Apple launched a battery replacement campaign for older devices after the CPU throttling became public.

At the end of 2017, the bombshell dropped - Apple had throttled the performance of older iPhones. Many accused the iCompany of being greedy for profit - but Apple acted for a different reason. The throttling was intended to extend the battery life of the devices and prevent sudden crashes. The error lay in communication. To make amends, Apple has launched a special battery replacement campaign - this expires on December 31, 2018.

The qualified devices include the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X. The price for a battery replacement is 29 euros. After the promotion ends, the price will increase to 49 euros.

The iPhone X is an exception - here the cost is 69 euros. For devices with AppleCare+, there are no additional costs for a battery replacement.

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
