Mass production of the new iPhone 15 models is imminent and the production of the displays has already begun. Apple has given Samsung Display permission to start production. But there are also challenges in manufacturing the periscope lens for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which could affect production plans. Let's take a closer look at the development process and the current situation.

The production process of an iPhone goes through several important stages, including EVT, DVT, PVT, and finally volume production. These stages are crucial to ensure that the final product meets Apple's high quality standards. While mass production of the iPhone 15 displays is in full swing, there appear to be issues with the periscope lens for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The yield of this component is falling short of expectations, which could potentially impact the schedule.

Apple is known for its secret development work, but after the prototype phase comes the industry standards: EVT, DVT, PVT and finally mass production.

  • EVT (Engineering Validation Test)
  • DVT (Design Validation Test)
  • PVT (Product Validation Test)
  • mass production

Each phase is to verify the design and ensure it is suitable for mass production. Currently, Samsung Display is about to start mass production of iPhone 15 displays after Apple gave the green light. LG has received conditional approval and needs to make some improvements before it can enter mass production. On the other hand, Chinese supplier BOE is facing challenges and has been withdrawn from display production for the time being, as The Alec reportedAnother problem concerns the periscope lens of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The production of this component is proving more difficult than expected and the yield is below expectations. This lens enables an extended optical zoom but due to the current difficulties, not all planned devices may be ready for market launch in time. (Photo by Elinaxx1v / Bigstockphoto)
