Apple has now announced the launch of a new repair program that addresses an issue that can cause sound dropouts on some iPhone 12 and 12 Pro devices.

Apple according to A "very small percentage" of iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models may experience sound issues due to a component failure in the earpiece module. Affected devices were manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. iPhone 12 and 12 Pro owners who have a device that does not produce sound from the earpiece when making or receiving phone calls may be eligible for free service. iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max models, on the other hand, are not affected, so they are not part of the repair program.

Those who have an iPhone with problems can make an appointment at an Apple Store or visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Apple Support can of course also be contacted to arrange a mail-in repair. iPhone 12 or 12 Pro models that have damage that affects the repair, such as a cracked display, must have that problem fixed before they can be repaired. The program is valid for affected iPhone 12 or 12 Pro devices for two years after the device was first sold at retail, Apple said. (Photo by Unsplash / Frederik Lipfert)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
