The first benchmark results of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max have arrived on Geekbench. These compare quite well with their predecessors.
Benchmark results for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max show that the A14 Bionic chip is around 20-25 percent faster than the A13 Bionic chip in the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. A result for the iPhone 12 Pro lists a single-core score of 1,597 and a multi-core score of 4,152, which is 26 percent faster than the iPhone 11 Pro's average single-core and multi-core scores of 1,327 and 3,289, respectively. Likewise, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is around 20-25 percent faster than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
A14 Chip: The fastest smartphone processor ever
As expected, the iPhone 12 Pro's performance seems to be roughly equivalent to that of the new iPad Air, which also features the A14 Bionic chip. In one result, for example, the new iPad Air achieved single-core and multi-core scores of 1,583 and 4,198, respectively. Some Results However, some are causing confusion. The multi-core scores of the iPhone 12 Pro models are slightly lower than expected. There's an explanation for this, though. Geekbench founder John Poole told MacRumors that the brand-new iPhone with a fresh out-of-box setup tends to initially display lower scores. However, this should change in the coming weeks. As Apple noted, the A14 Bionic chip is the fastest smartphone processor ever and the first based on a 5nm manufacturing process.
market launch in two phases
The integrated neural engine has also been doubled from 8 to 16 cores, making it up to 80 percent faster for machine learning tasks, such as applying Deep Fusion to improve the detail of photos. While the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models can be pre-ordered starting tomorrow and will be available from October 23rd, those interested in the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max will have to wait a little longer.
