Support for high-frequency mmWave bands is limited to iPhone 12 models sold in the United States. This includes compatibility with Verizon's new 5G ultra-wideband network, which is available in the US starting today. iPhone 12 devices sold outside the United States are limited to sub-6GHz bands for 5G, including Europe, Asia, Canada, Australia, and other countries. mmWave technology is a set of 5G frequencies that promise ultra-fast speeds over short distances, making it best suited to dense urban areas. In comparison, 5G in the sub-6GHz band is generally slower than mmWave, but signals travel farther, better serving suburban and rural areas.
