In the rapidly evolving world of technology, Apple is not left behind and is constantly bringing innovations to market that redefine the way we interact and work. One of the most exciting updates in Apple's product line is the upcoming iPadOS 17.5, which confirms new display technologies for the next generation iPad Pro.

Since the last unveiling of new iPads in October 2022, the rumor mill has been bubbling nonstop. Fans and technology enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting clues about Apple's next big steps. The release of the first iPadOS 17.5 beta version has now shed light on the matter and confirmed what many had hoped: the next generation of iPad Pro will come with OLED displays, a first in the history of the iPad.

iPadOS 17.5 confirms OLED displays in the new iPad Pro

The discoveries in the code of the iPadOS 17.5 beta version are a clear sign that Apple is switching to OLED technology. The guys from 9to5Mac have found references to four new iPad models in the firmware:

  • iPad16.3
  • iPad16.4
  • iPad16.5
  • iPad16.6

These models appear to be part of the next generation of iPad Pro, which will be available in two sizes and with WiFi and cellular options. The introduction of OLED displays promises improved image quality, deeper black levels and higher contrast, which is particularly important for the creative professionals among users.

iPad Pro: Delays and Suppliers

Despite the exciting new features, there are also challenges. A report from the DSCC indicates delays in the launch of the new iPads due to production bottlenecks in the OLED displays. LG is expected to take over production of all 12.9-inch panels, while both LG and Samsung will be responsible for the 11-inch variants.

A new Apple Pencil

In addition to the iPad Pro, there is also news about the Apple Pencil. The iPadOS 17.5 beta contains references to new gesture controls for an as yet unreleased model of the Apple Pencil. With functions such as "Squeeze", "LongSqueeze" and "DoubleSqueeze", interaction with the iPad becomes even more intuitive and versatile. In addition, earlier code indicates integration into the "Find My" app, a feature that is still missing from current models.

Apple sets new standards: OLED displays and more

The discoveries made with iPadOS 17.5 and the new products that come with it are a clear indicator of Apple's commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology. The introduction of OLED displays in the iPad Pro and the expansion of gesture control on the Apple Pencil are just some of the new features that will give users an even more immersive and productive experience. While the community eagerly awaits the official launch in early May, one thing is certain: the future looks brighter than ever for Apple users. (Image: Apple)
