Both the iPhone 13 series and the brand new iPad mini 6 were equipped with the A15 Bionic chip. However, there are differences, as new benchmark results now show.

The news that the iPad mini 6 will receive a downclocked version of the A15 Bionic chip should come as no surprise. The first Geekbench 5 results showthat the new iPad mini achieves average single-core and multi-core values of around 1,595 and 4,540, while the iPhone 13 Pro's average values are around 1,730 and 4,660. Strictly speaking, the chip in the small iPad is said to be downclocked to 2.9 GHz, while it works at 3.2 GHz in all iPhone 13 models. Even if it remains unclear why Apple took this step, hardly any user will have problems with the performance. Accordingly, no one should let these benchmark results influence their purchase decision. The iPad mini 6 is and remains the star of the September events and will certainly appeal to some fans.

USB-C, better camera and center stage

As a reminder, the 8.3-inch small display has wide color and offers a brightness of up to 500 nits. To accommodate the new display, Apple has moved the Touch ID button to a corner - a step the company already took with the iPad Air. In addition, Apple has abandoned the Lightning port in favor of a USB-C port. The changes in connectivity also include support for 5G. As for the cameras, there is a 12-megapixel sensor with Focus Pixel and an f/1.8 aperture on the back, as well as a True Tone flash. A new image signal processor enables intelligent HDR enhancements and the camera can also record 4K videos. The front camera has been upgraded to a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 122-degree field of view. This change gives the iPad mini support for Center Stage, the automatic frame adjustment that can also be found in other iPad models.

iPad mini 6: Two storage variants, five colors

The iPad mini 6 can now be pre-ordered with 64 GB or 256 GB in the colors Space Gray, Rose, Violet and Polar Star. The price of the device is between 549 euros and 889 euros, depending on the features. Delivery will start on September 24th. (Image: Apple)
