2019 is a special year for the iPad - because now it is going to go its own way. When Apple introduced the new iPadOS at this year's WWDC 2019, many fans were amazed. Now the new operating system has been released to all users. These are the most important features in iPadOS.

In the future, the iPad will use its own software based on iOS - iPadOS. Apple wants to get even more out of the tablet with iPadOS and, for example, offers applications and functions tailored specifically to the iPad. The goal is for the Apple tablet to one day replace conventional laptops - with iPadOS, the foundation for this could now have been laid. In the future, for example, useful widgets can be positioned on the edge of the display. The popular Split View function will also be expanded - it will allow an application to be used in two instances in the future. The "Files" app has also been significantly optimized.

Safari

The application appears with its own info box and can access USB storage devices under iPadOS. Folders in iCloud can also be shared with other users in the future. The version based on iOS 13 also brings dark mode into play on the iPad. Safari has of course been significantly improved under iPadOS. In the future, the browser will be on par with the macOS version. All websites will therefore appear in desktop view on the iPad. In the future, users will also be able to easily make downloads in Safari via the iPad - there is now a suitable manager for this.

Apple Pencil

Users will be able to change and add additional fonts. New text editing functions will make the work process much easier.

If you make a mistake, you no longer have to shake the iPad - a swipe gesture immediately undoes the unwanted action. Of course, Apple's own stylus is also included. Apple Pencil support has been improved with new applications - the response time has also been significantly optimized. By the way, Apple Arcade is now available on the iPad - read more here. Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
