Apple is preparing to release iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1. The beta phase is almost complete and the final version is expected in the coming weeks. Here you can get an overview of the most important new features and what you can expect in the next updates.

Since the release of the fifth beta version, it has become clear: Apple is pushing the Release There was only a week between the fourth and fifth betas, which suggests an imminent release. The public beta test has also recently started, and Apple is expected to provide the final versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, tvOS 18.1, watchOS 11.1, visionOS 2.1 and macOS 15.1 by the end of October. This time could also coincide with new hardware announcements from Apple.

The most important innovations

With these updates, Apple is increasingly relying on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with the new "Apple Intelligence" platform. During the test phase, developers and testers were already able to try out features such as the "Writing Tools", which improve texts, or use automatic summaries of messages and notifications. Another interesting feature is "Clean Up", which can remove unwanted content from photos.

Long road to full implementation

Although Apple is making great progress with iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1, some of the announced features will not be available until 2025. These include "Image Playground" for image creation, "Genmoji" and the new generation of Siri. The introduction of new languages for Apple Intelligence outside of the US English area will also take some time, and users in the EU in particular will have to be patient.

Current status of the beta

The fifth beta version shows that Apple is now almost there. Big changes are rare at this stage, and the main focus is on smaller adjustments and improvements. All devices that support iOS 18 or macOS 15 can already use the beta - not just the latest models.

iOS 18.1 & macOS 15.1: New versions and AI features on the way

iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, tvOS 18.1, watchOS 11.1, visionOS 2.1 and macOS 15.1 are about to be released. The AI features and new tools will enhance the user experience, although some functions will only be available later. A final version is expected by the end of October. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
