iOS 18.1 is close to its official release and Apple has now distributed one of the final beta versions to developers. This means you can look forward to the next major iOS update in the coming weeks. Below, we take a close look at the new features introduced in iOS 18.1 and what you can expect from this update.

Since the introduction of the beta phase of iOS 18.1 in July, we have seen many interesting developments. Apple has been continuously working on optimizing the system to make it ready for the final release. The update not only marks a milestone in terms of user-friendliness but also brings new functions that make everyday life with the iPhone easier.

The progress of the beta versions

In recent weeks, Apple has repeatedly released new beta versions of iOS 18.1 published. The seventh build of the beta is the last one so far, which indicates that the final update will be released soon. A clear sign of this is the letter at the end of the build number, which has jumped from "e" to "a". In Apple's development system, this shows that the next step will be the so-called release candidate - the last preliminary version before the final release. In addition to iOS 18.1, updates are also pending for other Apple systems, including macOS 15.1, watchOS 11.1, tvOS 18.1 and visionOS 2.1. These parallel updates underline Apple's efforts to optimize the entire ecosystem.

Apple Intelligence: A Breakthrough in Usability

One of the biggest innovations in iOS 18.1 is the Apple Intelligence feature package. This function aims to make using the device even smarter and more intuitive. Apple Intelligence analyzes habits and preferences and adapts the system accordingly. The feature will initially only be available in the US, but it is expected to be rolled out worldwide soon. Another exciting aspect is the redesign of the Control Center. There are now new switches there that offer more control over network access and other important functions of your iPhone. These adjustments will significantly speed up your workflow and give you more flexibility in managing your apps and connections.

iOS 18.1 & Co.: The test phase and the release

The testing phase of iOS 18.1 was one of the longest compared to other systems such as watchOS, tvOS or visionOS. This also explains the different beta numbers of the different systems. While iOS 18.1 is already in the seventh beta, other systems are only in the fifth version. The final release of iOS 18.1 should not be long in coming. We can expect the official rollout in the next two weeks. If you as a developer have already tested the beta, you will see that the current version is very close to the final product. For normal users, this means that you can look forward to a mature, stable update. Are you looking for accessories from top brands?
