Some iPhone 13 users are reporting intermittent touch issues on their new devices. This is a phenomenon where the iPhone does not respond to the user's touch inputs, sometimes requiring a complete restart of the device to resolve the issue. However, there are also similar reports from users of older iPhone models.

In articles on Reddit, Twitter and the Apple Support Forum are reporting iPhone 13 customers who are having problems with the touch sensitivity of their new smartphone. Those affected report problems with tap-to-wake, where the iPhone does not respond after tapping the screen to wake it up. Others even report system-wide problems, and in-app touch inputs do not behave correctly in all cases.

iPhone 13: Problems appear to be of a software nature

Isolated cases of touchscreen sensitivity issues on the iPhone 13 would indicate possible hardware malfunctions on some models of the new iPhone, right? However, reports of touch issues occurring on older devices after updating to iOS 15 suggest that this is instead a software bug that is specific to iOS 15. With an overwhelming number of reports now being documented, it seems to be a widespread problem. I personally have not been able to detect the touch issue on any of my devices, including the new iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, I can tell you at least a whole song about countless app crashes.

iOS 15 is causing headaches for many users

Since its release just over a week ago, iOS 15 has been plagued by problems, including bugs related to the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch, device storage, Apple Music and widgets, and possible security vulnerabilities. Apple has already announced an update. But it is currently unknown when the patch will be released. iOS 15.1 is currently in beta. Apple may release iOS 15.0.1 in the meantime to at least fix the bugs so far. As soon as an update is released, I will of course report back. (Photo by Pra Chid / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
