The list of problems with iOS 15 and the iPhone 13 continues to grow every day. CarPlay is next. There are increasing reports that CarPlay suddenly crashes when a user tries to play music, for example via Apple Music or third-party providers such as Spotify.
Meanwhile, the Apple Support Forum is flooded with posts referring to a problem with CarPlay and the iPhone 13. Twitter and other forums are also literally flooded. According to the affected iPhone 13 users, the system crashes when they try to play music from a CarPlay app. However, it works perfectly on older iPhones with iOS 15. One case study was documented in which an iPhone 11 with iOS 15 had no CarPlay problems at all, while the iPhone 13 mini was practically "useless" for this purpose. Other users report that the problem occurs with both wired and wireless connections. When Bluetooth works, the active music app, such as Spotify, must remain on the screen and stops playing when the user switches to another app. So reported a user in Apple's support forum:

I had an iPhone 12 with iOS 15 and everything worked fine. I upgraded to iPhone 13 and now music won't play through CarPlay when I use Spotify or Apple Music. I have a 2018 Audi and I use Lightning to connect to CarPlay. When I click on a song using Spotify or Apple Music, my CarPlay app shuts down. CarPlay works and doesn't turn off when I use Google Maps or Apple Podcasts. But as soon as I click on a song, Apple CarPlay just turns off.
Frustrated users then complained to Apple Support. However, they were referred to existing support documents, which were not a solution in this case. Based on this, some users started looking for possible solutions and found outthat disabling the equalizer (EQ) can help. Others were able to get the problem under control by resetting their network settings. However, since this is a widespread problem, it can be assumed that Apple will solve the problem in a future update. When the patch will be released is currently unknown.
