Rumors about mouse support were already circulating weeks before the WWDC 2019 keynote. Even though Apple has not mentioned the feature so far, it is now official - iOS 13 or iPadOS is getting the long-awaited mouse support.
It has been a wish of many fans for several years. Even though Apple has not commented on the topic so far, a well-known developer has now found the answer. In the future, iPhone and iPad users with iOS 13 or iPadOS will be able to control their device with a Bluetooth or USB mouse. However, the so-called mouse support is not a standard function but is available as an AssistiveTouch option in the accessibility features on the respective iOS device. According to developer Steve Troughton-Smith, who discovered the function, it also works with the Apple Magic Trackpad.

As with other AssistiveTouch features, the mouse pointer on the display looks similar to a fingertip, simulating a finger touch. Wireless mice can be connected to both an iPhone and iPad - a special cable is required to connect a wired mouse to the iPad. Although this is an accessibility option at this time and may not provide the best user experience compared to touch, Apple could implement mouse support more deeply in future updates, which would make the feature a standard option.
