Owners of older iPhones may currently have problems with authentication via Touch ID. A bug is said to make the login process under iOS 13 more difficult.

The launch of iOS 13 was, to put it mildly, a little bumpy. While some fans had no problems at all, others had to struggle with various errors. But most of the bugs should have been fixed by now in iOS 13.1.1, right? Now a new and, above all, somewhat strange error has been discovered in iOS 13 - this is still under iOS 13.1.1 present. Various users of older iPhone models report that they are having login problems. To be precise, iPhones with Touch ID are affected. Accordingly, the authentication screen should not appear when opening an app. The bug does not affect iPhones with Face ID - so only the iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models can be affected.

Authentication should still be possible

The error is currently occurring more frequently in banking apps - according to some users, the bug can also be noticeable in other applications. Our colleagues at 9to5mac have found a temporary solution for this. Although the Touch ID display does not appear when logging in, authentication can still take place in most cases.

Since the hint is only invisible, the iPhone usually still recognizes the finger and the app is unlocked. In rare cases, this doesn't work either. What triggers the bug is not yet known. However, it can be assumed that Apple is already working on a solution to the problem. (Photo by blackzheep / Bigstockphoto)
