That changes with iOS 13.2. Our colleagues at 9to5mac could now be found in the code of iOS 13.2 Locate the new accessory – this is called an "AirTag." The "AirTags" are paired with the iPhone similar to AirPods and assigned to various objects.
How “AirTags” work
Thanks to a previous leak by MacRumors, the functionality of AirTags has already been revealed. Users can assign the trackers to corresponding objects in the "Items" section of the "Find My" app in iOS 13 – from there, all management and monitoring of the individual AirTags takes place. When you open the "Item" menu item, three categories appear: "People," "Devices," and "Objects." New AirTags can be added using the "Items" button. Expanding the setup section reveals a text that reads: "Keep track of your everyday items – Tag your everyday items with B389 and never lose them again."
Previous leaks and rumors suggest that Apple's tracker features ultra-wideband technology, which is also known to be present in 2019 iPhones. A new leak from 9to5mac on iOS 13.2 revealed another detail: the battery. According to the leak, the accessory will feature replaceable batteries. However, a clear image of the design has not yet been released. No indication of a release date has been found either. Therefore, it remains unknown when Apple will introduce the "AirTag."
