Many fans should now know that Apple is planning a Tile competitor. The new accessory has already been discovered several times in various iOS 13 betas. But the name was not known until now. That changes with iOS 13.2. Our colleagues at 9to5mac could now be found in the code of iOS 13.2 locate the new accessory - this is called an "AirTag". The "AirTags" are paired with the iPhone in a similar way to AirPods and assigned to various objects.
How AirTags work
Thanks to an earlier leak by MacRumors, the functionality of the "AirTags" has already been revealed. Users can assign the trackers to corresponding objects in the "Items" area under iOS 13 in the "Find My" app - from there, all management and monitoring of the individual "AirTags" takes place. If the "Item" menu item is opened, three categories appear - "People", "Devices" and "Objects". New "AirTags" can be added using the "Elements" button. If the setup area is expanded, a note appears. It says: "Keep track of your everyday objects - mark your everyday objects with B389 and never lose them again."
Previous leaks and rumors suggest that Apple's tracker has ultra-wideband technology - which is also known to be present in 2019 iPhones. The new leak from 9to5mac under iOS 13.2 revealed another detail - the battery. According to this, the accessory is said to have replaceable batteries. However, there is no clear picture of the design yet. No indication of a release date has been found either. So it remains unknown when Apple will introduce "AirTag".
