Things have been a bit quiet around Instagram in the last few weeks - this was primarily due to the Christmas season. But now there is news - Boomerang is getting three new features.
If you use Instagram a lot, you will inevitably be familiar with the app "Boomerang from Instagram". The application allows you to play videos in a loop - a boomerang effect. The last major update was a good five years ago - high time for an update, right?
Three new features are coming
The new Boomerang features include three ways users can share their videos: SloMo, Echo and Duo. An Instagram spokesperson told TechCrunch:
Your Instagram camera gives you the power to express yourself and easily share what you're doing, thinking, or feeling with your friends. Boomerang is one of the most popular camera formats and we're excited to expand the creative possibilities you can use with Boomerang to turn everyday moments into something fun and unexpected.
The new filters are now available in the Boomerang app for iOS users. After a video has been recorded, the user must tap the infinity symbol to access the new functions.
- SloMo – As the name suggests, this is the slow motion function. This selection halves the original speed of the recording.
- echo – The echo option blurs the video to the point where it creates a drunken effect.
- duo – The Duo function speeds up the video drastically – creating a kind of glitch effect.
Not a new invention but good
The update also allows you to customize videos. For example, recordings can be shortened if desired. However, the new effects are not a new invention. Anyone who uses Snapchat or TikTok will already be familiar with the functions. Instagram probably wants to stay competitive with the update. The new Boomerang version is currently being rolled out.
