Apple introduced the HomePod mini at the beginning of the week as part of the "Hi, Speed" event. Now details about the connection are known.

The brand new Siri speaker is called HomePod mini and is significantly smaller than the classic version. Unlike its big brother, the mini version has a spherical design and is 3.3 inches in size. Apple itself describes the smart speaker as follows:

HomePod mini: The Amazon Echo competitor

HomePod mini is designed to work with Apple Music, podcasts, radio stations from iHeartRadio, radio.com and TuneIn, and in the coming months, popular music services like Pandora and Amazon Music. Multiple HomePod mini speakers work together to stream music or podcasts to multiple rooms in perfect sync. Placing two HomePod mini speakers in a single room can create a stereo pair for a wide soundstage that fills the room with rich, enveloping sound.

But which connection is Apple relying on for the promising Amazon Echo competitor? The US blog MacRumors now wants to find the answer experience Accordingly, the small Apple speaker will also be delivered with a non-detachable cable.

HomePod mini delivers “amazing sound”

Unlike the classic smart speaker, however, the mini version has a connected USB-C cable. The new 20W power adapter is included with the device. Thanks to the USB-C cable, the HomePod mini is compatible with a wide range of adapters. A side note for those who don't have a classic HomePod. The device, introduced in 2017, has a permanently attached cable with a power plug. Although the new Siri speaker is much smaller, according to Apple, the device still delivers "amazing sound" through "Computational Audio", a function powered by the same S5 chip as in the Apple Watch Series 5. The device can be pre-ordered for 96.50 euros from November 6 in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Spain, Great Britain and the USA. Delivery will start on November 16.
