The game streaming service Google Stadia is now available as a beta on iPhone and iPad. Access is via Safari.

Google Stadia is available today in beta form on iPhone and iPad devices. The service can be used via Safari. is called it at The Verge:

Google Stadia has finally made its way to iOS after over a year. The mobile web beta (iPhone and iPad) announced last month launches today. This means that any Stadia user using either the free version or the paid Stadia Pro subscription will be able to access their Stadia games library on Apple devices.

Like other competing cloud services, Google uses the Safari mobile web browser due to Apple's restrictions on cloud gaming apps, which mean platforms like Stadia can't exist in their current form on the App Store. However, unlike Nvidia's GeForce Now or the planned mobile web version of Microsoft's xCloud, Google Stadia has a free tier with no restrictions and now offers two free-to-play games (Destiny 2 and Super Bomberman R), with more to come. This means anyone with a Gmail account who wants to try Stadia can try it out on an iPhone or iPad with minimal hassle."

Google Stadia: Apple's guidelines were a sticking point for cloud gaming services

According to the report, this means users will be able to enjoy titles like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 on iPhone and iPad. The Verge reports that the service worked "remarkably well" in a week-long test phase, even with touch controls. Apple's App Store policy has been a sticking point for cloud gaming services like Stadia and xCloud. As explained by Google, Stadia runs on iOS' Safari web browser, so it's not an app that can be downloaded. Users who access it regularly can use the website but add it as an “app” to your home screen. (Photo by nikkimeel / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
