Apple today released its own MagSafe battery for the iPhone 12 models. After numerous rumors, the company has added a new first-party accessory in the form of a wireless battery pack to its range.
The MagSafe Battery attaches magnetically to the back of the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max and provides additional battery life. The battery pack itself is charged via a Lightning cable and can simultaneously pass the charge on to the connected iPhone. Apple recommends using a 20-watt USB-C charger. The MagSafe Battery can be pre-ordered starting today. According to the website, the accessory will ship starting July 21. Interestingly, it requires iOS 14.7 or later.

The brand new MagSafe Battery joins an existing accessory ecosystem of wireless battery packs that have been introduced since the release of the iPhone 12. However, all of these third-party options are unofficially "MagSafe compatible" and not MagSafe approved. Anyone who wants to purchase the product can do so starting today for around 109 euros.
Unfortunately, Apple has not yet released any official figures. It is therefore still unclear how much additional battery life is offered.
