Apple released a number of new beta versions this evening, including iOS 13.5. The new iPhone operating system includes an important change to Face ID.

Under iOS 13.5 Apple has implemented the much-discussed interface for COVID-19 contact tracing for the first time. In conjunction with the Xcode 11.5 beta, this is only available to developers who work for official health authorities. But iOS 13.5 also has a change for Face ID. This means that an iPhone can now recognize masks and jump directly to password entry. This improves the use of Face ID together with masks immensely.

implementation of the API

There are various solutions that have been circulating on the Internet in recent weeks, but none of these methods have proven to be truly reliable. This makes the new feature in iOS 13.5 all the more important. No other changes have been discovered so far. If there is anything else worth mentioning, we will of course report on it in a separate article. In addition to the security adjustment, as already mentioned, the new API for contact tracing. Although the step has already been discussed several times, the new beta is causing further discussion.
