A small update for Twitter on macOS was recently released, which officially integrates support for the MacBook Pro Touch Bar. But there are even more interesting features waiting for us, as has now been announced.
The latest Twitter update on macOS has not only fixed bugs but also integrated the Touch Bar. The options are currently very limited, but the short message service will certainly add more. Much more interesting, however, was an interview at this year's CES 2020. Suzanne Xie - Head of Product Management at Twitter - told The Verge revealed some upcoming innovations. According to them, Twitter will have a new area called "Conversation Participants" in the future. According to Xie, this will include four options: Global, Group, Panel and Statement.
Global – If a tweet is sent globally, every user can respond to it – regardless of whether they have been subscribed to it or not.
group – As the name suggests, this function restricts the tweet. If a user decides to tweet in a group, only people who are subscribed to by the tweet creator or who are mentioned in the tweet can reply.
panel – A panel tweet only allows people specifically mentioned in a tweet to respond.
statement – If a post is published as a statement, other Twitter users cannot respond to it. This means that comments remain disabled for everyone.
New conversation view on the way
With this change, Twitter wants to offer users more options when creating posts - the feature is intended to be a kind of middle ground between private and public posts. There will also be a new conversation view - says Xie. This will show individual conversations in their entirety on just one screen in a much clearer way. Other improvements include, for example, adjustments to the list display. This is intended to make searching easier. When these features will finally appear has not been announced.
