Facebook has released a new app called “CatchUp” that is designed to coordinate phone calls – whether individual or group calls does not matter.

The new app “CatchUp – Effortless Calling” was launched in US App Store and is currently being used for testing purposes. It is designed to help friends and family better coordinate phone calls. The application was developed by Facebook's internal R&D group and its functionality differs from other messenger apps with a calling function. "CatchUp" enables audio calls with up to 8 people. Video calls, on the other hand, are not supported. Although the service comes from Facebook, a Facebook account is not required. The app accesses the phone's contact list and shows the user the online status of their contacts. The app description states:

Users can control privacy

Making calls has never been easier. See who's available and join one-on-one and group calls effortlessly. Never miss phone calls or schedule a time to call someone again. Stay in touch more, think about it less. Whenever you're free to talk, CatchUp!

The idea is to see whether a person is available before calling them. In addition to the online status, users can make certain settings in the privacy area. This allows you to specify who can take part in a one-on-one or group call. The app is currently only being tested in the USA. It is currently not known whether and when "CatchUp" will be available in other countries. Anker discount campaign: Save up to 25 percent on surveillance cameras, headphones, speakers and more. The discount ends on May 31, 2020. (Photo by ADCstock / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
