Apple introduced new iPad and iPhone models yesterday evening. The Apple Watch Series 7 was also unveiled. But contrary to rumors, the Series 7 does not appear in a brand new design. But that's not all. The processor is not new either.

During the presentation, Apple did not say a word about the performance of the Apple Watch Series 7. Usually, the company emphasizes that the new devices are faster or more energy efficient. But this was not the case with the Series 7. The reason is obviously that the Apple Watch Series 7 uses the same processor that was introduced last year with the Series 6. The confirmation comes from the latest version of Xcode, as developer Steve Troughton-Smith explained Both the Apple Watch Series 7 and the Apple Watch Series 6 are equipped with the CPU "t8301", the code name for the processor in the "Apple S6" System in a Package (SiP).

Apple Watch Series 7: Did Apple redesign the watch at the last minute?

Since they have exactly the same internal number, this suggests that the Series 7 and Series 6 have the same internal components in terms of the CPU. This wouldn't be the first time Apple has reused one of its processors in another product. However, as developer Guilherme Rambo noted , Apple doesn't even use a slightly revised version of that well-known CPU. The fact that the Series 7 has exactly the same chip as its predecessor could confirm some theories that Apple completely redesigned this year's Apple Watch at the last minute. While the iPhone 13 and iPad mini 6 will ship next week, Apple stated that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be available later this year, without giving any further details. The exact specifications of the product were also not revealed, which is why the whole thing is causing even more speculation. (Image: Apple)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
