Apple has now released the final version of macOS 10.15.5 Catalina for all users. In addition to bug fixes, the new operating system contains an interesting feature.

While Apple already iOS 13.5, iPadOS 13.5, tvOS 13.4.5, watchOS 6.2.5 and iOS 12.4.7 , macOS 10.15.5 was a long time coming. But now the update is available for download. The new version contains bug fixes and an interesting feature called “Battery Health Management”. The new battery management was developed to extend the overall life of a MacBook by slowing down the chemical aging of the battery. macOS 10.15.5 Catalina

With macOS Catalina 10.15.5, you now have battery health management for notebooks in Energy Saver preferences, an option to control automatic highlighting of video tiles in group FaceTime calls, and controls to fine-tune the built-in calibration of your Pro Display XDR. The update also improves the stability, reliability, and security of your Mac.

FaceTime Highlight setting

  • An option to control automatic highlighting in FaceTime group calls that does not resize video tiles of speaking participants
  • Fine-tuning the calibration of the Pro Display XDR
  • Controls for fine-tuning the built-in calibration of your Pro Display XDR by modifying the white point and luminosity to precisely match your own display calibration target

This update also includes bug fixes and other improvements.

  • Fixed a bug where Reminders might not send notifications for repeating reminders
  • Fixed an issue that could block password entry on the login screen
  • Fixed an issue where System Settings continued to display a notice even after installing an update
  • Resolved an issue where the built-in camera may no longer be recognized after using it for a video conferencing app
  • Fixes an issue on Mac computers with the Apple T2 security chip that may prevent the built-in speakers from appearing as sound output devices in Sound preferences
  • Fixes a stability issue when uploading and downloading media files from iCloud Photo Library while the Mac is in sleep mode
  • Solved a stability problem when transferring large amounts of data to RAID volumes
  • Fixed an issue where the Reduce Motion accessibility setting did not reduce the speed of animations in a Group FaceTime call
