According to a new patent, Apple is continuing to work on the biometric authentication Face ID for MacBooks – the technology could soon find its way into Apple laptops.

In the past, several patents have been discovered on the subject of Face ID. Some of them show ideas about how Apple's facial recognition would work on Mac devices. In general, it is only a matter of time before Apple introduces Face ID on MacBooks and the like. The most recent Apple patent presents an advanced version of Face ID. According to it, facial recognition is to be built into MacBooks and, unlike the iPhone version, will identify the user's retina.

Touch ID in the Magic Keyboard

This type of biometric recognition is a version used in high-end security systems. This system would prevent decryption by evil twins or 3D masks and thus increase security. In addition to the new biometric recognition technology, another patent was found that shows the integration of Touch ID in the Magic Keyboard with Touch Bar. In general, patents should be treated with caution. It is not uncommon for many such ideas to never make it into finished products. Nevertheless, it is certain that Apple will integrate a new biometric recognition technology into Mac devices sooner or later. Which technology will be used remains an open question, of course.
