Apple recently received a patent application granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that could make a Magic Mouse a Pro version.
The Magic Mouse - an accessory that is not only used by iMac, Mac mini and other users, but also by MacBook owners. Of course, the new trackpad in MacBooks is an absolute highlight - but a Magic Mouse is also impressive. But how about a Magic Mouse Pro? What would such a mouse have to offer to receive the "Pro" title? A recently discovered Apple patent tells us this. The description of patent #10.496.187 states the following:
An input device is provided for controlling an electronic device, the input device may include a housing structure providing a disorientated surface with respect to at least one axis of an input coordinate system of the input device, a sensor assembly at least partially protected by the housing structure, and a processor operable to sense with the sensor assembly a user coordinate system of a user with respect to the disorientated surface, sense with the sensor assembly physical usage of the housing structure, and determine a control action for the electronic device based on the user coordinate system and the physical usage.
No classic mouse
Although Apple does not directly use the word computer mouse throughout the patent, the description suggests that patent #10.496.187 could be a type of mouse. The interesting thing about it is the automatic alignment. According to this, the unknown "mouse-like" device should be able to recognize where the user is and then align itself in that direction. Such a feature would actually make the Magic Mouse a Pro. However, if you look at the accompanying sketch, the device does not seem to look like a classic mouse. Moving the cursor would also deviate from the traditional method. The reason for this is the shape. In the picture, it seems to be more of a round, dome-shaped device. Therefore, this could not be a future Magic Mouse Pro but rather a Trackpad Pro, right? If the product actually goes into series production, the previously unknown input device could set new standards. But there is one thing to note here.
