Apple's work on a brand new augmented reality app called "Gobi" was revealed in early March thanks to a leaked version of iOS 14. Now new QR code formats have been discovered.

Thanks to an internal iOS 14 preview that was leaked out into the wild, we got a pretty good idea of what Apple is currently working on. Now, former TechCrunch editor Josh Constine has released details regarding “Gobi,” a new QR code format and new sounds specifically for the Find My app. According to the report, Apple seems to be planning to implement a new QR code format that uses colored symbols. They were directly integrated into the new AR application “GobiAccording to Constine, these lead to the websites of the Mac Pro, the Apple Watch and more - see image. The code also refers to a comparison function in "Gobi" for shopping - says Constine. The latest discovery also confirms earlier rumors that Apple is planning a partnership with Starbucks, which will offer discounts at certain Starbucks locations in the Gobi application.

iOS 14 includes a number of useful features

This is said to be part of certain promotions. As part of this, Constine shared a video showing sounds (audio files) that are included in the “Find My” app. These are intended to help users find lost devices. It is said in it:

You will hear encouraging tones when you are facing in the right direction, so that the lost device is "ahead of you", when you are "near" or coming within "arm's reach", while discouraging tones indicate that you are off course.

The next big iOS update will bring a lot of cool features, including a new fitness app, new features in iMessage, and more. If you want to learn more about it, I recommend our iOS 14 archive. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
