Earlier this year, Apple announced that Dan Riccio would be moving to a new position within the company and John Ternus would be taking over as head of the hardware team. Now Apple's leadership website has been updated.

The one launched by Apple earlier this year announced The change in hardware engineering has now been officially completed. The company announced last night that leadership website with John Ternus as Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering. Ternus now appears alongside existing SVPs such as Jeff Williams, Johny Srouji and Craig Federighi. Dan Riccio, whose new role remains unknown, no longer appears on the website. Ternus joined Apple in 2001 and was promoted to vice president of the hardware engineering team in 2013, where he spearheaded major projects such as the development of the AirPods, iPad Pro and Apple Silicon Macs. As senior vice president, he will now lead Apple's entire hardware engineering team.

Speculations surrounding Riccio's new role

Meanwhile, Dan Riccio's new role remains unknown. Tim Cook commented on the change at the time as follows:

Every innovation Dan has brought to life at Apple has made us a better, more innovative company, and we're thrilled he will continue to be part of the team. John's deep expertise and breadth of experience make him a bold and visionary leader for our hardware engineering teams. I want to congratulate them both on these exciting new steps, and look forward to many more innovations they will bring to the world.

A Bloomberg report according to Riccio is now working on the as yet unannounced AR/VR headsets that the company plans to bring to market in the coming years. Since Apple itself is silent on Riccio's role, we can only speculate for now. (Image: Apple)
