The iOS App Store now has almost two million apps. Now Apple seems to be testing a new feature to make search results more contextual.

Like on Twitter reported , some iPhone users have noticed in recent weeks that tags appear in the App Store when they search for a popular term like "photos" or "wallpaper." For example, when searching for "photos," tags like "collage" or "editor" appear afterward. Once a tag is tapped, the search results are curated accordingly. So, for example, if a user searches for "photos" and then taps "collage," the search results are narrowed down to apps that can be used to create photo collages.

In some cases, a second tag can be selected to further narrow down the search results. At the moment, it seems that the tags are only visible to a small number of users in the US. Many of the users who see the tags are using the beta version of iOS 14.5. But one user claims to also see the tags on iOS 14.4.2. If the statement is true, it is possible that the tags can be imported server-side. According to Apple, 70 percent of App Store visitors use search. The new search tags should therefore be a great help to many. It is not yet known when the new feature will be expanded. iOS 14.5 is currently in the seventh beta version. The final version is currently expected to be rolled out worldwide by the end of April. (Photo by bigtunaonline / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
