New research shows that Android's market share has fallen by 8% over the past five years, while Apple's iOS has grown by about 6%.

Apple dominates the world with the Apple Watch and has taken over the majority of headphone sales in the USA. But the iPhone is far outnumbered by Android phones. There are countless Android manufacturers, but they all use Google's operating system. Now the market research company StockApps has compared the distribution of Android OS to iOS examinedIt is reported that Android's market share was highest in 2018 at 77.32%.

iOS increased its share by 6.09%

In January 2022, this share was only 69.74%. StockApps finance expert Edith Reads commented as follows:

Android's loss of market share is due to increased competition within the operating system. A look at the data shows that iOS gained 6% between July 2018 and January 2022. From 19.4% then, Apple's market share has increased to 25.49%. The remaining 1.58% that Google lost is accounted for by other, smaller OS developers.

So iOS has increased its share by 6.09% while Android has shrunk. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that Android has the larger number of phones on the market. (Photo by Unsplash / Jeremy Bezanger)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
