There has been repeated speculation as to whether Face ID can be used on the iPad in landscape format. In the latest iOS 12.1 beta, the well-known software leaker Guilherme Rambo has now found an answer to the question.
Learning in Portrait Mode
To set up Face ID, the iPad Pro must be held in portrait format. Once the setup is complete, facial recognition can be used in both portrait and landscape format. The code contains the following description: "Face ID needs to be in portrait to learn how to recognize you. After Face ID has been set up, it will work in portrait and landscape."
In addition to two new iPad Pro models, Apple will likely introduce four updated Macs and new accessories.
