The rumors surrounding the upcoming entry-level iPhone – also known as iPhone 9, iPhone SE 2 or iPhone SE 2020 – have almost reached their peak in the last few days. Now there are two new clues about the upcoming device.

MySmartPrice was the first to discover one of the clues. Both independent discoveries indicate the name “iPhone 9”. This contradicts a report by 9to5mac, according to which Apple wants to introduce the new entry-level device as the "iPhone SE 2020". The first clue can be found on the Chinese e-commerce website JD.com. The second clue can be found on the official exchange page of the US network operator Verizon. Both sites refer to an "iPhone 9" and thus indicate a launch soon. MySmartPrice explains this in its report:

It looks like the long wait for the upcoming iPhone 9 could end pretty soon. Earlier this month, we had reported on the possibility that Apple might launch a new smartphone called the iPhone 9 later this month – on April 15th. Today, major Chinese retailer JD.com has published a placeholder page for the iPhone 9, indicating that the official launch and retail availability of this new iPhone model is imminent. The page on JD.com does not contain any specifications or details about the upcoming iPhone 9. But the mere fact that a major Chinese retailer has prepared a page dedicated to a new iPhone is a clear indication that the device is indeed on the way.

The name remains a well-kept secret

As already mentioned, the second clue can be found on Verizon's official exchange page. The well-known YouTuber and leaker Jon Prosser shared a screenshot on Twitter that clearly refers to an iPhone 9. Due to the fact that various reports have appeared in recent days that do not agree on the name, this does not have to be seen as a definitive confirmation. While many device specifications are often revealed in advance, the name in most cases remains a well-kept secret until the end. So it remains to be seen what Apple will actually call the new iPhone in the end. An announcement is currently expected on April 14 or 15, while the market launch could take place on April 22 or 24. (Photo by Yastremska / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
