The iPod Nano was last updated by Apple in 2015. Now the seventh generation will soon receive a new status.
The US blog MacRumors has Information on that the iPod Nano 7 will be classified as a vintage product at the end of the month. Apple’s list of “vintage” products includes Devicesthat have not been sold for more than five but less than seven years, while the discontinued products list includes devices that were discontinued more than seven years ago. Devices on the Vintage List can still receive hardware service from Apple and certified service providers, subject to the availability of repair components and as required by law. However, hardware service is no longer available for discontinued products. Apple first unveiled the iPod Nano in 2005 and has updated it several times over the years.
iPod Nano: Slim, light and popular
Its slim and lightweight design made it very popular. The second generation was reduced in size and received bright aluminum colors. With the third generation, Apple took a new step. The iPod Nano became smaller and wider. Fans nicknamed it "nano fatty". With the fourth generation iPod Nano, Apple reduced the size again and abandoned the wide design of the third generation. The form factor was also retained in the iPod Nano 5. In 2010, Apple decided to give the iPod Nano 6 a completely new design. The device had a display that was about the size of an Apple Watch. The seventh generation of the iPod Nano was introduced in October 2012. The device had an iPod touch-style multi-touch display and a home button. New colors were added in 2015. Since the iPod Nano and iPod touch were very similar, one product had to give way in the end. So the iPod Nano was discontinued in mid-2017. As a result, Apple also abandoned the iPod Shuffle.
