Apple is preparing to launch its AR/VR "mixed" reality headset, which is set to be unveiled at WWDC in June. To ensure users adopt the device, the company is working on developing sports, gaming, wellness and collaboration apps. Apple also plans to adapt iPad apps for the headset and make existing App Store content accessible. The article describes the various apps Apple has developed to entice users to buy the AR/VR headset.

Apple's AR/VR headset is expected to cost about $3,000 and is not designed to sell well right away. The company expects to sell about a million units in the first year, according to Bloomberg reported. Apple has worked with a number of game developers to help them update their existing content for mixed reality and will also provide a range of tools for creating AR/VR experiences. Apple is focusing on developing apps to make the AR/VR headset attractive. A Fitness+ app will allow users to work out while watching the Fitness+ trainer in a virtual reality environment, and there will be a Health app that will guide users through meditations with graphics, sounds and voice-overs.

Apple AR/VR headset: Can the device convince users?

A dedicated TV app will allow users to watch videos in virtual reality environments. FaceTime will have its own app that will use Memoji-like avatars and virtual meeting rooms. Additionally, Apple is developing a Books app for reading in virtual reality. A Camera app will be able to capture images from the headset's cameras. A version of Freeform will be adapted to a 3D interface for collaborating on projects with others. Apple is also working on sports and gaming apps for the AR/VR headset and plans to adapt iPad apps for the headset. Apple is working hard to develop engaging apps for its AR/VR headset to convince users to buy the device. Of course, whether the company will succeed in doing so remains to be seen.
