While the iPhone 13 is expected to be largely similar to the iPhone 12 in terms of design, Apple is rumored to have a few cosmetic changes in store. A new video from Unbox Therapy today offers a closer look at those changes using an iPhone 13 Pro Max dummy unit.
These types of iPhone dummy units are usually based on leaked schematics that circulate in the Apple supply chain. Such information is regularly shared among accessory manufacturers before Apple officially announces a new iPhone. Unbox Therapy The dummy unit shown was provided by Ben Geskin in this case. One of the biggest design changes we expect this year is the shrinking of the notch. This newly surfaced dummy unit visualizes the whole thing pretty well. Apple achieves the reduction in width by lifting the earpiece up into the top display bezel. The infrared and camera components remain in the visible notch area.
iPhone 13 Pro: Camera cutout to be revised too
The new notch is expected to be almost 30 percent narrower than its predecessor. In addition, Apple is expected to redesign the camera cutout. Well-informed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has already reported that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will have an improved ultra-wide-angle camera, switching from 5P (f/2.4) and fixed focus (FF) to 6P (f/1.8) and autofocus (AF).
To accommodate these camera changes, the camera lenses will be significantly larger, as can be seen in the video. Larger lenses are known to lead to better photo quality, as more light can reach the digital camera sensors. Whether the rumor mill will ultimately be right remains to be seen.
