Max Weinbach has posted new detailed schematics for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, showing that Apple's upcoming high-end iPhones could have a larger camera bump and a thicker overall design.

Last week, CADs for the iPhone 14 Pro were already released dividedBut the von Weinbach published Schematics are more detailed and provide dimensions for the upcoming iPhones. According to them, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will measure 77.58 mm in width, slightly smaller than the iPhone 13 Pro Max at 78.1 mm. In height, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will also be almost identical to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, at 160.7 mm versus 160.8 mm. In thickness, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will measure 7.85 mm, slightly thicker than the current high-end iPhone, which measures just 7.65 mm. With the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple has significantly increased the camera plateau on the back compared to the iPhone 12 Pro.

iPhone 14 Pro series: The camera bump is said to remain

In 2022, Apple reportedly wants to repeat a similar trend. The current camera bump on the iPhone 13 Pro Max is only 3.60mm tall, according to guidelines Apple created for accessory makers. According to the iPhone 14 Pro Max schematics shared by Weinbach, the camera bump on the high-end 2022 iPhone will be 4.17mm thick. The camera bump itself on the back of the iPhone will also grow by about 5% in each dimension, from the current width of 35.01mm to 36.73mm and height from 36.24mm to 38.21mm. Weinbach also released schematics for the smaller iPhone 14 Pro today. According to them, the iPhone 14 Pro is almost identical to the iPhone 13 Pro in width, measuring just 71.45mm versus 71.5mm.

Rumors should always be treated with caution

Height-wise, the iPhone 14 Pro will also remain essentially unchanged from the iPhone 13 Pro, measuring 147.46mm versus 147.5mm. Like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Pro will also feature a more prominent camera bump, measuring 4.17mm versus the current 3.60mm. Initial renders of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, published by Jon Prosser a few days before the iPhone 13's unveiling, showed a design without a camera bump. Instead, the lenses, LED flash, and LiDAR scanner were flush with the rear glass. Prosser's renders also showed round volume buttons reminiscent of the iPhone 4. Neither of these two design elements will apparently come to fruition, as shown by images shared by Weinbach and last week by 91Mobiles. As always, however, Apple's plans are subject to change and as far as rumors go, they should be taken with a grain of salt. (Photo by Razgulyaeff / Bigstockphoto)
