Rumors and speculations about new iPhone models always cause a stir. Now there is fresh information about the upcoming "iPhone 17 Slim" from the well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

You've probably heard a lot of rumors about new iPhone models, but the latest information about the iPhone 17 Slim might be of particular interest to you. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will take a radical design approach to this model track, where form is placed above function.

design and form factor

The iPhone 17 Slim is, as the name suggests, designed to be particularly slim. Apple plans to make significant compromises to achieve this ultra-slim design. This could mean that some of the features you're used to from previous models will be removed or changed. One particularly striking feature is the decision to only include a rear camera.

Camera

While the standard iPhone 17 will feature a dual-camera design and the Pro models will have three rear cameras, the iPhone 17 Slim will only feature a "wide camera." This camera is what Apple calls the main camera. There are no exact specs yet, but the other models in the iPhone 17 lineup are expected to have a 48MP main camera. It remains to be seen how the lack of additional cameras will affect photo and video quality.

materials and workmanship

The iPhone 17 Slim will continue to be made of titanium, but with a smaller proportion than the current Pro and Pro Max models. This mix of materials could give the device a high level of stability despite its slim design.

Technical specifications

  • Screen size: 6.6 inches
  • Screen resolution: Approximately 2,740 x 1,260
  • Processor: A19 chip
  • Dynamic Island: similar to the current iPhone models
  • 5G chip: Apple's own chip instead of Qualcomm

These specifications suggest that the iPhone 17 Slim will not lag behind the other models in terms of performance, despite following a different design.

Price and availability

With an estimated price of $1299, the iPhone 17 Slim will be the most expensive model in the iPhone 17 lineup. Interestingly, Apple will phase out the “iPhone Plus” model and introduce the Slim model to follow new design trends and diversify the portfolio.

market strategy

The decision to replace the iPhone 17 Plus with the iPhone 17 Slim is based on sales figures. The Plus model currently only accounts for about 5% of total new iPhone shipments. Apple seems to believe that the standard, Pro and Pro Max models already sufficiently cover the high-end market segments. So the new ultra-slim model is not intended to simply replace the Plus model, but rather to explore new design trends.

The rumor mill is bubbling: iPhone 17 Slim in focus

It remains exciting to see how the rumors about the iPhone 17 Slim will develop. There are still at least 14 months until the actual launch of the device, during which many details can change. Apple's strategy of putting form over function could generate both enthusiasm and skepticism. (Photo by DenPhoto / Bigstockphoto)
