Rumors about new iPad models are now documented regularly. But today three different iPad series were discussed: the iPad Air 5, iPad mini 6 and the ninth generation iPad.
Citing a Chinese supplier reported Macotakara that the fifth generation iPad Air will continue to have a 10.9-inch display and a Touch ID button on the side. But the device is said to have a dual-lens camera system with wide and ultra-wide angle lenses. A LiDAR scanner could also be part of the innovations. However, this is not certain. The updated tablet could also get a better audio system with four speakers and 5G support. Macotakara assumes that the fifth generation iPad Air will be equipped with an A15 chip. While today's report does not contain any details about the market launch, previous reports have suggested a launch in early 2022. In addition, Macotakara does not mention whether the device will have an OLED display. Previous sources have predicted these innovations several times. As things stand, the iPad Air is expected to adopt OLED technology while the iPad Pro line will stick with mini-LED technology.
iPad mini 6: Report contradicts reliable sources
Regarding the iPad mini 6 and ninth-generation iPad, Macotakara claims that the devices "do not appear to be any different from the existing eighth-generation iPads and iPad mini 5." The site suggests that it's possible that the only update will be an upgrade to the A14 chip, with a design change not expected until 2022 or later. This statement is by no means consistent with previous reports surrounding the iPad mini 6. After all, we've heard from reliable sources such as Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman (Bloomberg) suggesting that the next iPad mini will have a larger display and possibly no home button.
