There are solutions for this, such as those from Tile - a small tracker on the respective object and the days of searching are over. But Apple is also planning a similar solution.
Only recently, a discovery in iOS 13 revealed that Apple is planning a tracker for personal items. This is intended to prevent the loss of keys and the like. Now star analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken about the new tracker and confirmed that Apple has something up its sleeve. According to his information, Apple's trackers are said to have ultra-wideband technology - this is also to be used in 2019 iPhones Ultra-wideband (UWB) is a short-range, energy-saving radio technology that allows for very precise location determination - especially indoors. Products like Tile rely on Bluetooth - this allows for less precise location determination. The distance between two UWB devices can be measured much better because the time it takes for a radio wave to travel between the two devices is calculated - the iPhone 11, for example, could serve as a counterpart to Apple's tracking solution.
Deeply integrated into iOS 13
Neither Kuo nor the code in iOS 13 show whether the new tracker is based only on UWB - it would be possible to use Bluetooth as well so that older iPhones can also communicate with the new accessories. The discovery has shown that Apple has firmly integrated the device into iOS 13. The tracker should work closely with the "Find iPhone" and "Friends" apps and offer some location tracking options.
Currently, observers assume that Apple will release the gadget as part of the “By innovation only” keynote. So far, however, there are no firm indications of this - a later presentation cannot be ruled out.
