Apple's anticipated – and still a long way off – fourth generation iPhone SE will essentially be a revamped iPhone XR, it is now reported.
In the latest episode of Geared Up Podcasts with Andru Edwards and Jon Rettinger (via AppleTrackr) claims Prosser:
As far as I know – and I don't think I've said this publicly – the SE 4 is simply the iPhone XR.
The current third-generation iPhone SE, which launched earlier this year, is modeled after the iPhone 8 and the previous iPhone SE, and unlike Apple's other iPhones, it still has thick bezels at the top and bottom of the display. Additionally, all other iPhones now come with Face ID, so a potential switch to the iPhone XR design would mean the end of the home button.
iPhone SE 4 could be released as early as next year
The iPhone XR, which is no longer listed in Apple stores, has a 6.1-inch LCD panel while the current iPhone SE has a 4.7-inch display, so the switch would additionally bring a larger screen size for Apple's most affordable iPhone. The only other solid rumor about the next iPhone SE comes from Ross Young, a consultant in the display industry who has proven to be a reliable source of information on future Apple products. According to Young, Apple plans to launch a fourth-generation iPhone SE with a larger 5.7-inch display as early as 2023.
