For several months now, it has been claimed that Apple will introduce a new entry-level iPhone in the first half of 2020. But will the device really be that cheap? According to a new report, the starting price of the alleged iPhone 9 has been set.

It is now considered certain that Apple wants to introduce a new iPhone in the low price segment. Now an earlier price forecast by TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has been confirmed. According to him, Fast Company learned from a well-informed source that the starting price is around 399 US dollars. This corresponds to the entry-level price of the iPhone SE at the time. However, no specific information on storage sizes was given. Observers suspect, however, that the model will be available in 64 GB and 128 GB versions.

The iPhone SE successor in the design of the iPhone 8

The device is supposed to be the official successor to the iPhone SE – but the name “iPhone SE 2" is now considered very unlikely. According to various sources, the iPhone will appear in the design of the iPhone 8 and will have only minimal visual differences. Therefore, many believe that Apple will present the device as the "iPhone 9". While the design is less spectacular, something is said to have changed on the inside. According to some leaks, the new iPhone will have the well-known A13 chip with a whopping 3 GB of RAM. But when exactly will Apple present the device?

Coronavirus endangers availability

Mass production of the iPhone 9 was supposed to start at the beginning of February. However, this is no longer possible because Foxconn is not allowed to produce due to the current situation in China. The risk of infection among workers is too high, according to the Chinese government. This failure naturally has a negative impact on the general availability of products. Now some analysts believe that Apple will experience massive supply bottlenecks. Rumor has it that the iPhone 9 will be unveiled in March - but this is in danger of being cancelled. The lack of availability of the devices could even affect the launch date. Alternatively, the event could of course take place - but supply bottlenecks will be unavoidable.
