In addition to countless rumors about the iPhone 12, reports about the iPhone 2021 are also being documented. Now there are supposed to be new details about the OLED display.

Not much is known about the iPhone 2021 so far. Rumours say that the device will be released for the first time without a Lightning port and will instead rely on a Smart Connector Regarding the camera, there is wild speculation that there is a possibility that the lenses could be equipped with values of up to 60 megapixels. But these rumors should be viewed with great skepticism at this point in time. Now the Taiwanese news site DigiTimesto have learned new details about Apple's plans regarding the OLED display. The preview of the paid article states:

iPhone OLED screens could get LTPO backplanes in 2021. Apple has yet to launch its 5G iPhones for 2020, but the supply chain is already developing OLED screens with LTPO backplane technology for next year's premium iPhone models, industry sources said.

OLED displays could work more efficiently

But what exactly does that mean? LTPO technology could make OLED displays more energy efficient. This means that the backplane, which is responsible for switching the individual pixels on and off, could become significantly more efficient with the help of the new technology. This would result in a longer battery life. Alternatively, the ProMotion technology, which generally requires more energy and is not expected by display analyst Ross Young until next year at the earliest, could also benefit from it. Experience has shown that it is still far too early to correctly classify such reports. So it remains to be seen what the rumor mill has in store for us in relation to the iPhone 2021 in the coming months. AirPods Pro on special offer at Amazon – now available for 228 euros.
