According to rumors, Apple will also introduce four iPhone models this year. Apparently, an S-Line, i.e. the iPhone 12S, is planned. Now there are reports that the camera is to be improved.
We have already read rumors that Apple wants to make improvements to the camera this year. Now Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Thomas O'Malley are offering further details. All iPhone 12S models are said to have an updated ultra-wide-angle lens with a larger ƒ/1.8 aperture. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo already reported in November 2020 claimedthat the ultra-wide-angle lens will be upgraded to an ƒ/1.8 aperture. However, Kuo explained that this update will be reserved for the Pro models. An expansion to the cheaper devices will not take place until 2022. Barclays analysts, on the other hand, believe that all four models will receive this update this year.
iPhone 2021: Improvements expected inside
A larger aperture would allow more light to pass through the lens, with the move from an ƒ/2.4 aperture to an ƒ/1.8 aperture likely to result in significantly improved low-light performance when shooting in ultra-wide mode. Additionally, Barclays claims that the iPhone 12 Pro Max's improved telephoto lens will be extended to the smaller iPhone 12S Pro, with a 65mm focal length and an ƒ/2.2 aperture, a move that should benefit chipmaker Cirrus Logic as it Apple will supply a camera controller for another iPhone model due to be released later this year. Overall, the new devices are expected to retain the same size and design as the current line, but there are expected to be some improvements inside the new models.
