Well-known star analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken to investors again – this time he gives a much greater insight into the battery changes in the upcoming iPhone 11.

In his latest letter to investors, Kuo addresses an information that was already hinted at earlier this year – bilateral wireless charging. According to Kuo, all three new iPhone models in 2019 will have support for bilateral wireless charging. He predicted this earlier this year – the Japanese blog Macotakara wrote about it recently. In his note to investors, he explains that Apple needs to significantly increase the battery size of the new iPhones - this is the only way to enable wireless charging of accessories such as the AirPods on the back of the iPhone. According to the star analyst, in addition to the premium iPhones, the successor to the iPhone XR will also support the function of bilateral wireless charging.

Up to 25 percent more battery

This means that users of such an iPhone can wirelessly charge accessories such as the AirPods or the Apple Watch on the back of their iPhone. Charging larger devices or third-party products should also be possible - according to Kuo. In order to be able to implement this useful feature, the battery of the respective iPhone models must of course be enlarged. Kuo predicts a 20 - 25 percent larger battery in the 5.8" iPhone. The battery of the 6.5" device will grow by around 10 - 15 percent. In contrast, the battery of the iPhone XR successor should increase by a maximum of 5 percent. As a reminder: The iPhone XS has a 2,658mAh battery, while the iPhone XS Max has a 3,175mAh battery. The iPhone XR battery comes in at 2,942mAh. Increasing the size of the iPhone battery will not only bring the advantages of bilateral wireless charging, but can also ensure longer battery life for intensive users.
