A trusted source has suggested that Apple's iPhone 15 Pro could get an even brighter display, possibly up to 2,500 nits.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have the brightest display of all iPhones. But Apple could go one step further with the next generation. The next generation could achieve a brightness of up to 2,500 nits by changing the display panel. The leaker "ShrimpApplePro" retweeted a post on Tuesday by another leaker, known as "Connor" or "OreXda," mentioning Samsung's display panels. Samsung Display is also a longtime supplier of displays for Apple's iPhone. For comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have a typical maximum brightness of 1,000 nits, which increases to 1,600 nits peak brightness for HDR content and 2,000 nits peak brightness for outdoor use.
Will the iPhone 15 Pro models benefit from Samsung's technology?
It's also not uncommon for Samsung to make panels that reach high brightness levels. For example, the company makes outdoor displays with up to 2,500 nits, but for a large screen rather than a compact display. Whether this will lead to an even brighter iPhone display is unclear. Samsung hasn't yet shown the M13 display at the center of the rumors operating at that brightness, but it's a plausible possibility. Of the two leakers involved in this rumor, ShrimpApplePro is the more well-known and has a fairly accurate track record. For example, Shrimp correctly predicted that the Apple Watch Series 8 won't be redesigned while a statement about the iPhone 14 Pro's dimensions was pretty accurate.
