In less than a week, Apple will unveil the new iPhone 13 series. But leakers and analysts have already focused on the iPhone 14, which is expected in 2022. Now a display analyst has spoken out.

Concrete rumors about the iPhone 14 were first documented at the beginning of the year. It was claimed that at least the Pro devices would be released without a notch. Jon Prosser has now confirmed these rumors and published renderings that are said to be based on real prototypes. This means that Apple is currently expected to abandon the notch in favor of a hole-punch camera. In the wake of this, display analyst Ross Young has now also spoken out again about expressedTo make this design possible, Apple is also working on an under-display Face ID feature, according to its sources. Young first shared his prediction for the under-display Face ID feature in June, but has now highlighted it again.

iPhone 14: Pro models could appear without a notch

However, according to Young, this change will be reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Since the iPhone 14 models are currently in an early stage of development, Apple could of course make changes that no longer include this design - Young said. In this case, Apple would probably be forced to return to a notch-style design. Young also did not clearly comment on whether Apple will also introduce Touch ID under the display. Although both are possible and rumors exist, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said in late August that Apple is investing more in Face ID and would rather introduce Face ID under the display than return to Touch ID. However, Young believes that the notch-free design will only be limited to the Pro models, which we also heard from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple reportedly wants to abolish mini version

The other iPhone models could continue to use a notch design. In addition to the design without a notch on the front, Prosser claims that the iPhone 14 models will have a thicker body that eliminates the camera bump and makes the camera flush with the iPhone's body for the first time in years. A titanium alloy is also said to be under discussion. In addition, it has already been claimed several times that Apple will do away with the small 5.4-inch model because the iPhone 12 mini has proven surprisingly unpopular with users. According to this, two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch iPhone models are set to debut in 2022. These could be presented as the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Of course, it remains to be seen whether this will actually happen.
