There have been a number of rumors in recent months suggesting that Apple plans to ditch the notch design with this year's iPhone 14 Pro.
It was originally reported that Apple would house the camera in a punch-hole design. But now reliable analyst Ross Young says Apple will use a "hole and pill" design for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. A quick background on Young: Ross Young is an analyst at Display Supply Chain Consultants. As such, he typically bases his reports on supply chain leads, similar to analysts like Ming-Chi Kuo. He has proven himself extremely reliable over the past year. For example, he was the only analyst to report that the 2021 MacBook Pros will feature mini-LED displays with ProMotion. Anyway, Young reported today that this design will be unique to Apple, similar to the notch. This will differentiate the iPhone from Android devices in the future.
How the iPhone 14 Pro should stand out from Android devices
We now believe that Apple will equip the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max with a hole and pill design. The smaller hole will not be invisible. The two-hole concept will be unique to Apple, like the notch, and not similar to Huawei's pill models.
Interestingly, this type of design was first seen in a leaked blueprint from an anonymous Twitter account last September divided. At the time, however, no one took it seriously. Young now confirms that Apple will use this design for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
